WARREN, N.J.
"For more than 25 years, the Lifeline program has provided support to low-income Americans to keep them connected through periods of financial hardship"

Assurance Wireless, the popular Lifeline Assistance program that launched in Arizona in 2013 – providing a cell phone and 250 free voice minutes to eligible low-income residents – will now offer unlimited free texting for new qualifying customers.

New customers who sign up today through Dec. 31, 2014, also will receive an additional 250 free voice minutes (giving them 500 total minutes) each month for their first four months of service. At the end of the fourth month, these customers will continue to receive unlimited text messages each month in addition to the 250 free monthly voice minutes. Current customers will be migrated to the Free Talk & Unlimited Text plan on a rolling basis.

Assurance Wireless provides to millions of people in need cellphones and free phone service in more than 40 states, including Arizona, where more than 206,000[1] residents are without a job and more than 26[2] percent are living below the federal poverty line.

“I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have Assurance Wireless,” said customer L. Banks. “It is such a blessing for those of us who struggle to find work in this economy. I have not found a job yet, but I have been able to communicate with potential employers and obtain interviews with the use of this phone.  As someone who has been sort of homeless, I'm able to address issues dealing with my current circumstances. Thank you for being there.”

Assurance Wireless provides the best offer among major Lifeline programs available in Arizona[3].

“For more than 25 years, the Lifeline program has provided support to low-income Americans to keep them connected through periods of financial hardship,” said Grace Boehm, director of strategy and business planning, Assurance Wireless. “As more and more Americans choose wireless service to stay connected with employers, doctors, schools and families, we are pleased to provide additional service and ease their burden.”

In addition to a voice mail account[4] and call waiting, Assurance Wireless provides caller ID and access to 911 in case of emergency. Beyond the free 250 free voice minutes and unlimited free text messages each month, customers can choose from other low-cost options to pay for additional minutes, texting, Web, international calling and more at competitive rates.

The Lifeline Assistance program is available for only one wireline or wireless account per household. Enrollment in this government benefit program is available to consumers who meet federal or state-specific eligibility criteria. Residents may qualify for Assurance Wireless if they are on certain public assistance programs, such as Medicaid or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Applicants may also qualify based on low income and must provide proof of program participation or proof of income. Eligibility for Assurance Wireless varies by state.
